Slide 11 of 21: About 100 kilometres north of Toronto in Barrie, home prices fell three per cent between July 2017 and July 2018, dropping from almost half a million to $472,700. The decline is largely blamed on a foreign buyers tax that came into effect in April 2017. While migration from Toronto has helped drive prices up here, a diversified local economy is bringing additional buyers to the area.
